14 Jun RETAIL GOLF SHOP PROGRAM – FAQ’s

1. Why have we developed the retail golf shop program?

The retail golf industry is currently experiencing significant change in the market place. Off course retailers are starting to dominate the market, which is seeing sales from traditional categories shift from green grass golf shops.

2. Key reasons why sales are shifting from green grass golf shops?

  • Customers are looking for greater “product range” when they shop at a green grass golf shop
  • Customers are looking for greater “value” when they shop at a green grass golf shop
  • Customers are looking for competitive pricing on “key product lines” when they shop at a green grass golf shop

3. What will make the implementation of the retail golf shop program a success?

The owner/operator must have a strong desire to change how they currently operate – this is a vital component of setting the implementation of the retail program up for success! Other key components that will make the implementation of the retail program a success will include employee participation, and a scheduled roll out plan.

4. What will the retail golf shop program deliver?

The retail golf shop program aims to improve the levels of retailing competence of the owner/operator, increase top line sales and profitability, and also improve working capital. Through the implementation of the program you will also gain a greater understanding of the needs and wants of your customers.

5. What costs will I incur as part of the implementation of the retail golf shop program?

If the implementation of the retail golf shop program is sponsored by Srixon Sports you will not incur any costs outside of the purchase of some retailing fixtures and fitting to the value of $700.00.

6. Has the retail golf shop program been implemented outside of Melbourne?

Yes the retail golf shop program has been implemented outside of Melbourne. Golf Connect has clients in Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania, Queensland and New South Wales. Given the retail program is modular based it can very easily be rolled out outside of Melbourne.

10. How important is ongoing compliance to the retail golf shop program?

One of the key principles of the retail golf shop program is to merchandise by category versus brand, based on that principle your golf shop with therefore NOT finish up being a Srixon concept store. We will be looking to merchandise key shop categories, and bring them to life in the correct locations within your store.

15. Given the retail golf shop program has only just been accredited by the PGA do I receive one (1) ACE credit if I completed the program prior to its accreditation?

Yes you will receive a retrospectively back dated ACE credit in the Small Business stream. The PGA have approved that any golf shop operator (i.e. Director of Golf and or Head Professional) who has previously completed, and successfully maintained compliance to the program will receive a ACE credit.
